Itinerary

  • Day 1 : FLIGHT TO FRANCE
    • Fly through the night to Paris.
  • Day 2 : PARIS
    • Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your Prométour Tour Director.
    • Transfer downtown by motor coach and check in at your centrally located hotel.
    • Next, admire the view from the third floor of the Eiffel Tower on Le-Champs-de-Mars Square.
    • Later, have dinner as a group in an authentic restaurant.
    • After dinner take a guided cruise on the illuminated river.
    • Overnight in Paris.
  • Day 3 : PARIS
    • After breakfast, take a city tour by bus, discover the most famous monuments of Paris: Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe, the Pantheon, the Latin Quarter and the Gothic Notre-Dame.
    • After visiting Notre-Dame, have some free time to explore the always-exciting Latin Quarter.
    • In the afternoon, discover The Louvre Museum with your local guide. See the Louvre’s three great ladies — the Venus de Milo, the Victory of Samothrace, and Mona Lisa.
    • Then, browse the museum at your own pace for an hour or so.
    • Have dinner at a bistro in Beaubourg.
    • Visit the Beaubourg area, and walk along the illuminated banks of the Seine.
  • Day 4 : PARIS
    • After breakfast, depart by bus for Versailles, the extravagant Palace built for the Sun King.
    • Discover Versailles; walk in the footsteps of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette and of President Jefferson and Wilson.
    • Visit the opulent Grand Apartments, view the Opera and Royal Bedroom and enter the Grand and Petit Trianon. Discover the elegantly landscaped park, a masterpiece of French landscape gardening.
    • After lunch on your own, return to Paris and have a tour of the Opéra Garnier.
    • Return to discover the Marais Quarter and the classical Place des Vosges.
    • Dinner with your group and then overnight in Paris.
  • Day 5 : NORMANDY
    • After breakfast, your coach will take you to Merville-Franceville Plage to visit Le musée de la Batterie de Merville, installed in bunker Regelbau 611 of the former Heeres Küsten Batterie Merville.
    • Next, drive to the landing beaches, with emphasis on the Canadian sector, and visit Canada’s Juno Beach Centre.
    • Have lunch in Arromanches and enter the Musée du Débarquement at Arromanches.
    • Later, a visit to the Beny-sur-mer Canadian War Cemetery is included.
    • We return to our hotel for dinner this evening.
  • Day 6 : DIEPPE / ARRAS / THE SOMMES
    • After breakfast, visit the Dieppe beaches, site of the ill-fated 1942 raid, and still dominated by the remains of German gun positions, see the Canadian landing sites.
    • Continue your journey toward Arras, to visit the impressive WW I Memorial at Vimy Ridge.
    • On the way, stop off at The Battle of the Somme, where on July 1, 1916, at precisely 7:30 am the battle started. The next day the number of casualties suffered was appalling: 58 000 men fell, including 20 000 killed.
    • Dinner and overnight in the area.
  • Day 7 : YPRES / FLANDERS FIELDS / BRUSSELS
    • Have breakfast before you board your bus to cross into Belgium to visit the sites of the World War I trenches, in Ypres and Passchendaele.
    • Visit the site where John McRae penned his renowned poem “In Flanders Fields”.
    • Continue on to Brussels and enjoy a guided city tour and free time in the Main Square.
    • Dinner and overnight in Brussels.
  • Day 8 : BRUSSELS / AMSTERDAM
    • Have breakfast, and then explore NATO's headquarters.
    • Have some free time before lunch and then drive to Amsterdam.
    • Stop off on the way where the Battle of Rhineland was fought, including the Reichswald, the Goch-Calcar Road, and the Hochwald Gap. This is where the Canadian Army first penetrated Germany. After, visit the National Liberation Museum 1944-45 at Groesbeek.
    • Dinner and overnight in Amsterdam.
  • Day 9 : AMSTERDAM
    • Have breakfast, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour, pass the Westerkerk (West Church), stroll through Dam Square, and marvel at the Koninklijk Paleis (Royal Palace) and cross the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge).
    • You will also visit the Anne Frank House, where the young girl wrote her famous diary.
    • An afternoon at your leisure.
    • Dinner and overnight in Amsterdam.
  • Day 10 : RETURN FLIGHT FROM NETHERLANDS
    • Have breakfast with your Prométour Tour Director.
    • Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
