Itinerary
- DAY 1: TRAVEL TO FRANCE
- Fly through the night to Paris.
- DAY 2: PARIS / LISSES / PARIS
- Meet your Prométour Tour Director at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.
- Transfer to the city center upon arrival and have some time to exchange money at a “Bureau de Change”.
- Have some free time to stroll on the Champs-Elysées, the most famous avenue in the world.
- See the Arc de Triomphe and visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Stroll about the Trocadéro and visit its breathtaking gardens.
- Admire the view of Paris from the 3rd floor of the Eiffel Tower.
- Transfer to Lisses by private motor coach.
- Dinner and night accommodation with your Host Family.
- DAY 3: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES
- Have breakfast with your host-families and then meet with your group leader & tour director to take the RER to Paris. While in Paris, you will travel as the locals do, by foot and metro!
- Notice the Egyptian Obelisk at the center of the Place de la Concorde as you walk towards the Jardin des Tuileries.
- Visit Philippe Auguste's Louvre where you’ll see master pieces such as the Mona Lisa. With a record 8.3 million visitors annually, it is by far the most visited culture and art museum in the world.
- Enter the beautiful Opera Garnier, best known as the backdrop for Gaston Leroux's famous Gothic novel, The Phantom of the Opera and all of its incarnations.
- Explore the Opera Quarter, home to Galleries Lafayette and Place Vendome.
- The remainder of the day is your chance to see Paris at your own pace!
- Return to your Host Family by RER for dinner and night accommodation.
- DAY 4: PARIS / LISSES / PARIS
- Have breakfast with your host-families and then meet with your group leader & tour director to take the RER to Paris.
- Visit the Musée d'Orsay which was originally a railway station. Admire its extensive collections of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and literature drawn from the 19th and 20th century.
- Have a bit of time to explore Île de la Cité and St-Louis.
- Enter the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral, a magnificent religious edifice which is one of the supreme masterpieces of French gothic architecture.
- On to the Quartier Latin to see the Luxembourg Gardens, Le Panthéon, and the Sorbonne University. Get acquainted with the flower market and the book stalls on the Seine.
- Later in the day, take a “bateau mouche” cruise of the River Seine.
- Return to your Host Family by RER for dinner and night accommodation.
- DAY 5: LISSES / PARIS / LISSES
- Have breakfast with your host-families and then meet with your group leader & tour director to take the RER to Paris.
- This morning, visit l’Hotel National des Invalides, a hospital for Napoleon’s Army, an Army Museum and the resting-place of the Emperor.
- Visit the Musée Rodin which contains most of Rodin's significant creations, including The Thinker and The Kiss.
- Head up to the highest point in Paris, Montmartre, known locally as “La Butte”, and climb the steps to reach the Sacré-Coeur, the quartier’s most famous landmark.
- Spend some time strolling around the area; maybe have your portrait or your caricature done by a local artist.
- The remainder of the day is your chance to see Paris at your own pace!
- Return to your Host Family by RER for dinner and night accommodation.
- DAY 6: PARIS / LISIEUX / ARROMANCHES / BAYEUX
- Have a final breakfast with your Host Family before transferring to the Normandy region by private motor coach.
- Along the way, make a stop in Lisieux, an important center of power in medieval times.
- Visit the stunning Lisieux Cathedral which was built between 1170 and the middle of the 13th century.
- Continue your journey towards Arromanches. This quiet sandy beach was the gateway of WWII. You are in the heart of the landing Beaches, between Omaha Utah beaches on the west side and Gold Juno Sword Beaches on the East Side.
- Visit the D-Day landing museum upon arrival in the afternoon.
- Head to Bayeux for dinner & night accommodation.
- DAY 7: BAYEUX / NORMANDY / MONT ST-MICHEL / ST-MALO
- Have breakfast before transferring to the American Cemetery at Colleville sur Mer. Here, you will see over 9,000 white crosses perfectly aligned, overlooking the beaches where the American Allies landed.
- Make a stop at the Pointe du Hoc which was a point of attack by the United States Army in World War II. Many of the original fortifications have been left in place. The site is speckled with a number of bomb craters.
- Continue south and discover the 1000 year-old Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel!
- Have some time at leisure to discover the delights of this intriguing walled city.
- Transfer to St-Malo for dinner & night accommodation.
- DAY 8: ST-MALO / LOIRE VALLEY
- After breakfast at your hotel, have the morning at your leisure to explore inside the walls of this history-filled town.
- Hop on your bus for the transfer towards the Loire Valley.
- Upon arrival, enjoy a guided visit of the royal Château at Amboise, a favorite residence of French kings.
- If time permits, visit Le Clos Lucé, a former residence of Leonardo Da Vinci. See his inventions and marvel at his works.
- Have dinner & night accommodation in the area of the Loire Valley.
- DAY 9: LOIRE VALLEY / VERSAILLES
- Have breakfast at your hotel and then visit the Château Chenonceau otherwise known as Le Château des Dames. This amazing castle built on the Cher River has to be seen to be believed.
- Transfer to Versailles for a visit of its world-renowned castle.
- Visit the opulent Grand Apartments, the King’s Chamber and the Hall of Mirrors.
- Later, discover the elegantly landscaped Park where you can admire massive gilded fountains with mythical creatures, lines of statues, and gardens that seem to go on forever.
- Have dinner & night accommodation in the Versailles area.
- DAY 10: RETURN HOME
- Have one final breakfast with your group before your transfer to the airport.
- After an incredible adventure, say a fond “au revoir” to your tour director and board your flight back home.
