Itinerary
- DAY 1 : TRAVEL TO HOLLAND
- Fly through the night to Amsterdam.
- DAY 2: AMSTERDAM / GUIDED TOUR / ANNE FRANK’S HOUSE
- Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your Prométour Tour Director who will stay with you for the length of your stay.
- Transfer to downtown Amsterdam in you private motor coach.
- Enjoy a guided walking tour of this eclectic and vibrant city – see the wonderful architecture and canals that have made it so famous. Use this time to exchange money.
- You will also visit the Anne Frank House, where the young girl wrote her famous diary.
- Dinner and overnight accommodation in Amsterdam
- DAY 3: AMSTERDAM /BATTLE OF RHINELAND /BRUSSELS
- After breakfast board your bus for Belguim.
- Visit the National Liberation Museum 1944-45 at Groesbeek.
- En route, stop where the Battle of Rhineland was fought, including the Reichswald, the Goch-Calcar Road, and the Hochwald Gap. This is where the Canadian Army first penetrated Germany.
- In Brussels check-in at your hotel.
- Enjoy a guided walking tour and free time in the Main Square.
- Dinner and overnight accommodation in Brussels.
- DAY 4: BRUSSELS/ FLANDERS FIELDS / YPRES
- This morning visit the Musee Royal de L’Afrique.
- Visit the site where John McRae penned his renowned poem “In Flanders Fields”.
- Carry on and visit the sites of the World War I trenches, in Ypres and Passchendaele.
- Cross into France as we continue our journey visiting the historical sites of the courageous battles of our Canadian soldiers as we pay tribute to memory of our fallen heroes.
- In France check-in at your hotel.
- Dinner and overnight in Douai.
- DAY 5: THE SOMMES/ARRAS/DIEPPE/CAEN
- Board your coach and depart for Normandy
- Continue our journey on toward Arras, to visit the impressive WW I Memorial at Vimy Ridge.
- Stop at Musée Somme, where on July 1st, 1916, at precisely 7.30 am the battle started. The next day the number of casualties suffered was appalling: 58 000 men fell, including 20 000 killed.
- With a local guide see the Dieppe beaches, site of the ill-fated 1942 raid, and still dominated by the remains of German gun positions, see the Canadian landing sites.
- In Caen check-in at your hotel.
- Dinner and overnight stay in Caen.
- DAY 6: NORMANDY COAST / CAEN
- Visit the Beny-sur-mer Canadian War Cemetery.
- Drive along the Landing Beaches with a stop at Canada’s Juno Beach Centre.
- Enter the Musée du Débarquement at Arromanches.
- At Merville-Franceville beach visit Le Musée de la Batterie de Merville, installed in bunker Regelbau 611 of the former Heeres Küsten Batterie Merville.
- Check in to your Paris Hotel.
- End the day in Paris for dinner and night accommodations.
- DAY 7 : PARIS
- While in Paris travel as the locals do, by foot and metro! Get to know your hotel neighborhood with your Tour Director.
- Go to Les Invalides to see the Tomb of Napoleon and visit the museum.
- Enjoy Le-Champs-de-Mars Square.
- Board a glass-topped “bateau mouche” to enjoy a refreshing guided cruise on the River Seine.
- Stroll on the Champs-Elysées, the world’s most famous avenue.
- Admire the view from the third floor of the Eiffel Tower.
- See the Arc de Triomphe & visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Have dinner at the Creperie Beaubourg.
- Visit the Beaubourg Area and walk along the Banks of the Seine.
- DAY 8: ½ DAY EXCURSION TO VERSAILLES / PARIS
- This morning, depart by bus for Versailles, the extravagant Palace built for the Sun King.
- Visit the opulent Grand Apartments, view the Opera and Royal Bedroom and discover the elegantly landscaped Park.
- Return to Paris.
- Visit the Sacré Coeur Basilica and enjoy a panoramic view over Paris.
- Visit the Quartier de Montmartre, the highest point in the city.
- Dinner at La Crémaillère located in Place du Tertre.
- DAY 9 : PARIS
- Discover Musée Louvre and some of its wonderful masterpieces including Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
- Walk through the Jardin des Tuileries.
- Go to the Place de la Concorde - see the Egyptian Obelisk in its center.
- Tour the Panthéon a neo-Classical church in the Latin Quarter of Paris. It was originally an abbey dedicated to St. Genevieve (the patron saint of Paris), but now functions primarily as a burial place for famous French heroes.
- Stop at the Conciergerie on Quai de l’Horloge, a one time prison which housed Marie Antoinette.
- Enter the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral.
- End your day with dinner at a local restaurant.
- DAY 10:PARIS
- Visit Père Lachaise Cemetery where the likes of Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison were laid to rest.
- Walk through the artistic Marais Quartier near bastille, and discover the famous Place des Vosges.
- Visit the beautiful Opera Garnier. A grand landmark designed by Charles Garnier in the Neo-Baroque style, it is regarded as one of the architectural masterpieces of its time.
- Stroll around the Opera Garnier and Lafayette Galleries – and walk through the very famous Place Vendome.
- Enjoy a local bite to eat for dinner.
- DAY 11: RETURN HOME
- After breakfast, Say a fond “Au Revoir” to the city of lights, board your bus to transfer to the airport and return home.
