Itinerary
- DAY 1: TRAVEL TO FRANCE
- DAY 2: PARIS
- Meet your Prométour Tour Director at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. He/She will remain with you throughout your tour
- Transfer to your centrally located Paris hotel for check-in.
- While in Paris travel as most Europeans do, by foot and metro! Get to know the neighborhood of the hotel with your Tour Director – use this time to exchange money.
- Later, stroll about the Trocadéro. Visit its breathtaking gardens!
- Admire the view from the 3rd floor of the Eiffel Tower.
- Stroll on the Champs-Élysées.
- See the Arc de Triomphe & visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Dinner with your group in a local restaurant.
- Overnight accommodations.
- DAY 3: PARIS
- Visit Philippe Auguste's Louvre where you’ll see masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa. With a record of 8.3 million visitors annually, it is by far the most visited arts and culture museum in the world!
- Walk through the Jardin des Tuileries to the Place de la Concorde. Notice the Egyptian Obelisk at its center.
- Enter the magnificent religious edifice, the Notre-Dame-de-Paris Cathedral. A supreme masterpiece of French gothic architecture.
- See the Sacré-Coeur Basilica located at the summit of the “La Butte” Montmartre, the highest point in the city.
- Have dinner with your group in this area.
- Overnight accommodations.
- DAY 4: PARIS / ½ DAY EXCURSION TO VERSAILLES
- After breakfast, board on your private bus heading towards the Château of Versailles.
- See the State Apartments, the King’s Chamber and the Hall of Mirrors.
- Later on, view the elegantly landscaped gardens. You’ll see massive gilded fountains with mythical creatures and an endless line of statues and gardens.
- Return to Paris and take this afternoon to explore the delights of Le Quartier Latin where you’ll see the Luxembourg Gardens, Le Panthéon and L’Université de Sorbonne.
- This evening, board a glass-topped “bateau mouche”, where you’ll enjoy a cruise on the Seine River.
- Dinner with your Prométour Tour Director.
- Overnight accommodations.
- DAY 5: PARIS / MADRID
- Visit the Musée d'Orsay (originally a railway station). Admire its extensive collections of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and literature drawn from the 19th & 20th century.
- Enter the beautiful Opera Garnier best known as the backdrop for Gaston Leroux's famous Gothic novel, The Phantom of the Opera and all of its incarnations.
- Have lunch with your group.
- Explore the Opera Quarter, home to Galleries Lafayette and Place Vendôme.
- Be sure to buy good snacks as this will be your light dinner for this evening.
- Transfer to the train station.
- Take an overnight train to Madrid.
- DAY 6: MADRID
- Meet your Prométour Tour Director at the train station in Madrid. He/She will remain with you throughout your stay in Spain.
- Transfer to your centrally located hotel for check-in and drop off your luggage.
- While in Madrid travel as you did in Paris, by foot and metro!
- Visit the Palacio Real. With 3000 rooms, it is twice the size of Buckingham Palace. Admire the magnificent interiors and the ornate furniture.
- Enjoy a walking tour through Old Madrid and explore the 16th and 17th century narrow streets around the famous Plaza Mayor, said to be “the most elegant square in the continent” and the Plaza de España with its Cervantes Monument.
- Have dinner with your group in a local restaurant.
- Overnight accommodations.
- DAY 7: FULL DAY EXCURSION TO TOLEDO
- After breakfast, depart to Toledo, the historic capital in Castilla la Mancha.
- Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and discover the history behind Toledo’s fortified walls as well as Santa María la Blanca Cathedral.
- Enter Toledo’s monumental Cathedral, the spiritual heart of the Spanish Church. Admire its Monstrance, its High Altar Reredos and the Transparente.
- Visit a traditional sword workshop where you will learn how the metal is forged into elaborate weaponry. At the end of your visit, you will have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs.
- Have some free time to explore the intricate streets of Toledo.
- Return to Madrid for dinner and overnight accommodations.
- DAY 8: MADRID
- After breakfast, enter the Museo del Prado, one of the top three museums in the world and admire its collection of Spanish paintings. See masterpieces by Goya and Velazquez, including Las Meninas, considered by some art historians as the greatest canvas ever painted!
- See the Monument to Alfonso XII as well as the Crystal Palace in the Parque del Retiro.
- Free time for last-minute purchases in “Madrid de los Austrias” and visit one of the most important Department Stores in Spain “El Corte Inglés”.
- Enjoy a farewell dinner with your Prometour Tour Director.
- Overnight accommodations.
- DAY 9: RETURN HOME
- Have breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
