Itinerary
- DAY 1: TRAVEL TO SPAIN
- Fly through the night to Malaga.
- DAY 2: MALAGA / ANTEQUERA
- Welcome to Spain! Your Spanish Prométour tour director will be waiting for you at the airport. He/She will remain with your group for the duration of your stay.
- Transfer to Antequera, inhabited since the Bronze Age and known as the town of white churches.
- Check-in at your hotel upon arrival. Take this time to freshen up.
- On a leisurely walk with your Tour Director, discover the view from the top of the Alcazaba, a fortress, and see the Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor with its impressive picturesque façade and the Iglesia de Nuestra Sra. Del Carmen, with an impressive baroque altarpiece.
- Have the afternoon at your leisure to explore the city.
- Enjoy a very typical Spanish meal for your 1st dinner experience.
- Overnight accommodations in Antequera.
- DAY 3: FULL DAY EXCURSION TO GRANADA
- This morning, depart by bus to the enchanting city of Granada, capital of the Nasrid kings.
- Upon arrival, visit the magnificent Alhambra, built in the 13th century to reflect the idea of paradise on Earth and explore the Generalife, a country estate of the Nasrid kings.
- Enter the Palacio de Carlos V, housing an impressive art collection and discover its particular acoustics.
- Later, have some free time on your own to explore the Albaicin quarter and admire the Alhambra from the Mirador de San Nicolas.
- Return to Antequera in the late afternoon.
- For tonight’s dinner, partake in a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn all the secrets for making delicious paella.
- Overnight accommodations in Antequera.
- DAY 4: ANTEQUERA / RUINS OF ITALICA / JEREZ AREA
- After breakfast, transfer by bus to Italica, birthplace of two Roman emperors. The city was abandoned for centuries, but the ruins still have all the magnificence of the roman urbanism and architecture.
- On the way, make a stop to visit Europe’s largest dolmens which dating back to the Bronze Age; the Dólmen de Menga & Dólmen de Viera.
- Visit the Ruinas de Itálica; see the impressive mosaics in one of the excavated homes of Roman nobility, such as the “House of the Planetarium” and the “House of the Birds”.
- Transfer to Arcos de la Frontera.
- Overnight accommodations & dinner at the Parador Casa del Corregidor. Situated on the banks of the Guadalete River, the property boasts an impressive view over the fertile plains surrounding the river, as well as the Arcos de la Frontera old town.
- DAY 5: JEREZ
- Have breakfast at your Parador.
- Head to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, devoted to amongst many things, conserving the ancestral abilities of the Andalusian horse and maintaining the classical traditions of Spanish baroque horsemanship.
- Upon arrival, enjoy a visit to the stables, the tack room, the saddlery, the Palace rooms, the Museum of Equestrian Arts and the Carriage Museum. Afterwards, attend a training session.
- After lunch, head to a local arts & crafts center, also known as a “Zoco de Artesanía” where you can admire the artisans at work. Among the 22 workshops, you can find sculptures, tin embossing, pottery, leather work, and musical instruments.
- Visit the Bodegas Gonzalez Byass/Tio Pepe, one of the area’s most renowned for its local specialty, the sherry wine. Finish your visit with a tasting of one of their delicious products.
- Return to your Paradors in Arcos de la Frontera for a delicious dinner followed by overnight accommodations.
- DAY 6: JEREZ / ALGECIRAS / TANGIERS / CHEFCHAOUEN
- After breakfast, transfer by bus to the port town of Algeciras.
- Take a high-speed ferry to Morocco where you’ll arrive in Tangiers, an ancient Phoenician town.
- Upon arrival, meet with your local tour director and transfer to the picturesque village mountain town of Chefchaouen.
- Have a guided tour upon arrival and then have the rest of the day at your leisure.
- Have dinner at your hotel followed by overnight accommodations in Chefchaouen.
- DAY 7: CHEFCHAOUEN /TETUAN / TANGIERS
- Enjoy breakfast with your group and transfer by bus to Tangiers.
- Make a stop in Tetuan along the way for a guided bus tour of this city situated in the middle of a belt of orchards that contain orange, almond, pomegranate and cypress trees.
- Continue towards Tangiers and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city by bus. Continue on foot through the old town where you can discover the Kasbah and its museum. During your walking tour, you will stop for lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant in the heart of the medina.
- Have the opportunity to experience a very popular transportation method, a camel ride!
- After lunch continue on to the small and large souk and the Jewish quarter.
- Transfer to your hotel for the check-in.
- For your last evening in Morocco, enjoy a typical balady dinner show.
- Overnight accommodations in Tangiers.
- DAY 8: TANGIERS / ASILAH / ALGECIRAS / MALAGA
- Enjoy breakfast with your group then head to Had el Gharbia, the Sunday farmers’ market.
- After your visit, continue towards Asilah, a fortified town on the northwest tip of the Atlantic coast dating back to 1500 B.C. when the Phoenicians used it as a base for trade. Its ramparts and gateworks remain fully intact.
- Have some seafood for lunch, a traditional Mediterranean specialty.
- Enjoy some free time for some wonderful photo opportunities.
- Transfer back to Tangiers in the mid-afternoon and board your ferry for Algeciras.
- Have a late transfer to Malaga where you’ll make a stop for dinner along the way.
- Overnight accommodations in Malaga.
- DAY 9: MALAGA
- Enjoy a late breakfast with your group and then take a stroll through Málaga; see Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de la Merced & the trendy calle Larios.
- Have the rest of the day at your leisure to explore this bustling city. Take this time for some last minute shopping opportunities.
- In the late afternoon, meet up with the rest of your group and walk along the fortified wall of the Alcazaba to admire the beautiful sunset of Málaga.
- Enjoy a farewell dinner with your group for your last evening in Spain.
- DAY 10: RETURN HOME
- Have breakfast at your hotel and then transfer to the airport.
- After a trip filled with new discoveries, say a fond “Hasta Luego” to Spain and board your flight back home.
